Summary
The smell of coffee is smooth and rich, it reaches into the depths of people's noses when they breathe, it sits in the air, tepid and relaxing. Numai could sit in the same place every day to bask in the scent. The familiar comfort of roasted beans brings joy to Numai and it sinks deeply into his veins. But it isn't just coffee that he wants to bask in now, it's Kyoutani, he’ll take any second that he can get.
He’s in the shop, Tuesday morning, ten-thirty on the dot. He doesn’t even have to say anything, Kyoutani hands over the to-go cup and Numai gives him the money.

Summary
“Name’s Kuroo, we work at the same office.”
“Oh?” Daishou’s brows furrow and he tries to search his brain to fit the name with a face at the office but he comes up empty and shakes his head. “Sorry, I don’t remember. I’m Daishou.”
“I know. Guess I’ll just have to make you remember me after this.”

Summary
After Skeleton Island, Silver drags Flint inland toward Savannah, toward the impossible promise of Thomas Hamilton alive and waiting. Silver thinks he’s accounted for Flint’s temper, Flint’s grief, Flint’s war. He hasn’t accounted for Flint’s refusal to go quietly.
One bloody chance on the road is all it takes for Flint to seize control back. But Flint learns there is no contempt sharp enough, no war loud enough to drown out a love that’s sunk clear to the bone.
Loving John Silver was its own trial by fire. It didn’t absolve a fucking thing. It didn’t throw a shroud over betrayal or sweeten the poison. It was a force that compelled in spite of sense – love the man anyway, love him because he is wrong and still yours.
Or: The one where Flint chooses Silver.

Summary
“Ushijima Wakatoshi!”
Turning to the source of the voice, Ushijima finds the boy from the other day standing behind him again, an excited look on his face as he rocks back and forth on his feet, “Tendou Satori. Do you always sneak up on people?”
Tendou laughs, the small frame of his body shaking with the force of it. Ushijima isn’t sure what’s so funny, he meant it as a legitimate question. Admittedly, though, Tendou’s laugh, while loud and boisterous, is somehow comforting. Once he’s calmed down, Tendou shakes his head in response, but instead of answering he poses his own question, “So you’re by yourself again today? Don’t you have friends?”
Unoffended by the question, as blunt as it is, Ushijima ponders on it for a moment before giving a small shrug, “I like playing alone. The other kids usually get bored of me.”
(a fic focusing on ushiten's development from childhood through adulthood that no one really asked for but I felt an extremely strong urge to write anyway)

Summary
Plopping back down on the couch, Satori fills Wakatoshi’s glass again, “So, any news from the exciting world of accounting?”
“No,” Wakatoshi bluntly answers, staring unblinkingly at Satori.
Satori’s running out of potential small talk to keep him focused anywhere besides Wakatoshi’s slightly unbuttoned dress shirt. And why did he have to roll up his sleeves? It’s extremely distracting.
“I see,” he fills his own glass and immediately takes a long sip. He can really feel it hitting him now. Or maybe he’s just getting drunk off of how delicious his best friend looks.
Best friend? Satori’s not really sure what to call Wakatoshi anymore. Maybe it’s best he doesn’t give their confusing relationship a title. He doesn’t like to think about it, much like he doesn’t like to think before he acts when he’s around Wakatoshi. That’s where the whiskey really helps.

Summary
This is when Oikawa turns towards him, facing Iwaizumi fully. One of his legs is slightly folded and tucked against his front, with both of his hands resting atop of his thigh. His eyes roam across Iwaizumi’s face as though he’s searching for something; subjecting Iwaizumi to that familiar scrutinizing gaze that often leaves him feeling strangely exposed. “You practice,” he says matter-of-factly. “With me.”
Iwaizumi can feel the exact moment his brain decides to short-circuit.
or: oikawa teaches iwaizumi how to kiss.

Summary
“I’ve been saving it for something important.” She said slowly, looking back up at the face of the enemy.
She managed not to flinch when his eyes narrowed at her searchingly, and simply held the vial of oasis water between them. Without saying anything further, she reached for his face. The left side.
The scar tissue was a strange mix of textures. She’d never gotten so close to long-healed burn scars before. The skin moved loosely beneath her touch, but the bumpy tissue beneath it remained stiff and unmoveable. Zuko’s breathing seemed harsh and shaky, but his face managed to remain impassive.
“But…” She pulled her hand away. “I only have enough water for one attempt. It may not even work…” she trailed off, feeling uncertain, but he was watching her again and the sense of empathy, of strange camaraderie, that she’s started feeling when he mentioned his mother’s loss grew. “But I’ll try.”
10 more minutes can change a lot. Canon-divergent from the end of season 2.
