What if Lo’ak’s attempt was succesful, what if the Sully family has to lay both their sons to rest in the same month. Lo’ak did not commit out of the blue but it was something he had struggled with for longer but it took him succumbing to his mental illness for anyone to notice his need for help.

After Neteyam’s death Lo’ak falls back into self destructive habits like SH to cope with the guilt he carries and on the night Payakan is outcast and Kiri and Tsireya find him they tell his parents instead of staying silent. Jake and Neytiri then have to navigate helping their son heal instead of ignoring him in their own grief. Jake battles with the fact that his human DNA is likely the reason his son is suicidal and his guilt increases as he realises what Lo’ak is going through. Luckily through it all Tsireya remains a stable support system for Lo’ak and through the tough period they grow closer and closer.
TL:DR
In the movie we got no mention of Lo’ak’s suicide attempt so this fic focuses on the Sully family reaction, specifically Jake and Neytiri and the follow up response.+Tsireya/Lo’ak fluff
