“Curls?”
Zoro smothers a lash of alarm.
He pictures the platform he and Sanji had been on before it collapsed.It had a mechanical lift. He feels confident it was a mineshaft. Shouldn’t that mean they fell together? Into the same space?
Zoro clenches his fists instead and tries to focus on his surroundings. To process them despite the darkness. The ground is uneven. Each of his feet lie at different angles and there are bits of gravel under the arches of his boots. The air is wet and cold, the weight of it thin and the taste of it stale.
Between the rasp of air from his own lungs, the only sounds exist in the regular cadence of dripping water.
Unbidden, Zoro’s thoughts supplement a reason Sanji isn’t responding. A reason why Zoro wouldn’t be able to hear his breathing.A reason with glassy, cerulean eyes and blood matted hair.
It doesn’t take much... after all.

Brook’s song shifted to a tender melody, each note a gentle nudge toward the moment everyone awaited. The crew, uncharacteristically quiet, leaned in with eager eyes. Sanji drew a deep breath, his usual smooth words replaced by something raw and real.
“I never thought I’d end up here, marimo,” Sanji began, his voice steady but full. “But there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. Let’s keep driving each other crazy for the rest of our lives.”
Zoro’s lips twitched into a smirk, but his eye held a rare softness. “I’ll endure your crappy cooking forever, if it means staying by your side,” he replied, his tone gruff but earnest. “I’m all in, dartbrow.”
