Minutes before she was going to put her plan into action, Kaede figures out what Shuichi was talking about.

“Y-Yeah, I can read the label, but… i-it’s…” Shuichi trailed off, all the color draining from his face as he remembered the date. No. There was no way.
“No.” He muttered, horrified.
“Yes.” Maki replied.Shuichi is hyping himself up to confess to Kaede before their time at the academy is up, but forgets the date right when it matters the most.

Though, just as they were crawling out of what remained of that hellish dome they were trapped in, Shuichi got this sudden headache, barely registering Himiko collapsing to the ground beside him, and everything went dark.
