Odo was ejected from The Great Link. Immediately, it became clear that one of two things must be true; The Founders were either less omniscient than they tried to appear or crueler than they claimed. They had made him Human in all but his face, or so they claimed. But there was no air in the Great Link, no water, just the rippling currents of a shared consciousness. Odo’s lungs, freshly born, were empty. They had not given him a first breath and under the pressure of the Link, his lungs had formed empty, under the pressure of the Link, and crushed. Their walls stuck together, collapsed and sticky. His first breath, gasping on the shore, had been a new but singular sensation. Pain.

Summary
A warning in the Force sparked into Qui-Gon’s mind, and he spun just in time to see the man take a sudden swing at Obi-Wan. His Padawan, caught at unawares, failed to dodge the blow. The man’s fist collided with the side of Obi-Wan’s head and the teen staggered off the edge of the ramp. Qui-Gon felt Obi-Wan’s Force signature fade as his Padawan lost consciousness. The Jedi Master instantly dropped the box his was carrying, cast aside his cloak, and sprinted down the ramp. He shoved the man out of his way and leapt off the side of the ramp after Obi-Wan.
A mission to deliver supplies to a hurricane-stricken planet goes a little awry, and Obi-Wan is injured, leaving Qui-Gon to care for a concussed Padawan as well as manage an increasingly desperate crowd of local villagers. But when Obi-Wan begins showing signs of a serious illness, the situation becomes rather more complicated.
