Summary
"They thought discovering dragons was the dream... Until the island turned into a nightmare."
In a modern world where dragons have long been thought extinct, married scientists Hiccup Haddock and Astrid Hofferson are invited to a remote research facility under the promise of wonder: live dragons, thriving in isolation, all funded by a mysterious corporate visionary, Viggo Grimborn.
But what begins as a scientific miracle quickly unravels into chaos.
When a violent storm hits and security systems fail, the dragons are unleashed, and Hiccup finds himself trapped in the jungle with Viggo’s estranged children, two kids desperate for the love their father never gave. With mythical predators hunting them and the island descending into disaster, Hiccup must become more than a researcher, he must become a protector.

Summary
Johann told stories of villages even further to the north, driven close to death by the cold, who suddenly had more firewood than they could need. He spoke of ships, spread across the seas, on the verge of sinking, pulled along by valkyries to the nearest shore. He wove tales of sick and wounded tended to—all by warm eyes and a kind smile, though the only definitive thing all of the stories seemed to have in common was the creak of metal with every other step and the feeling of eyes upon one’s spine, though The Man of the Isle had no companion to speak of.
~~
But The Man of the Isle was not all benevolence and kindness and free gifts. The Man of the Isle resided in shadows, in darkness, obscured by fog and rolling sea mist. He lived on a spire of rock, hidden away and unknown to the world. He appeared on shores and docks without a ship, without being seen, and retreated the same way.
He was a man, but not quite the entire definition of the word. Friendly, but not quite.
At least, that was what Johann told them.
