Alex isn’t even sure what he is doing here. Sure, he has just been dumped or something and Bea didn’t want him to be alone, but it’s not like he has any interest in being a part of the fun. He isn’t exactly in their friends’ group; he is just Bea’s brother. And as much as Alex loves Bea, he viciously hates her brother. He is a stuck-up self-righteous prick who thinks he is better than anyone else, just because he is smart or whatever. And Alex isn’t even convinced that he actually is smart at all.
“Try to be nice, okay?” Alex overhears Bea talking to her brother as they enter the hotel lobby.
“Tell that to him.” Henry hisses, clearly gesturing towards Alex who casually flips him off with a fake smile plastered to his lips.
“Both of you!” Bea raises her voice which doesn’t happen all that often and Henry caves.
“I’ll behave.” He mutters in a low voice. “If he stops being an idiot.”___________________________________________
Alex and Henry hate each other. That much is clear to Alex. So, when Nora decides to make them share a room on their trip to Italy, Alex thinks she might have lost her mind. Afterall, there is no one worse than Henry Fox, to be forced to spend time with.

Summary
Alex peers up at Henry’s face, the familiar tenseness in his jaw and mildly disinterested eyes nowhere to be seen. Instead, Henry’s expression is open and borderline delighted, like Brie used an extra strong shot of sorcery to draw Henry in and melt the ice that he usually stays locked behind.
Suddenly, Alex’s vague crush on an unapproachable coworker feels realer, all because he’s standing there and looking at Alex’s daughter like she hung the fucking moon. He’s treating the most important person in Alex’s life—his entire goddamn heart—as if she truly matters to him, giving her fist bumps and smiling at her and telling her she’s beautiful like her dad.
It’s doing weird things to Alex’s chest and making his palms sweat even in the air conditioned office, and he can’t decide if he’s okay with that development or if he wants to stick his head in Brie’s Easy-Bake oven.

Julie felt like she was looking in a mirror. Luke’s eyes were shining, passion overtaking his voice and lending it a kind of boyish quality that made her want to dive in with him, ask him all about the planets and when they would be able to see the next one, and what his opinions about Pluto were. She wondered if he knew the constellations as well, wondered what myths he had been told about their creation and who had told him. Did he know the Spanish names? Would she be able to share that knowledge with him? Her knees bent before she had time to consciously process the movement, dropping herself into the space next to him on the ground so they were eye level now. Luke regarded her softly, and their proximity allowed her to see the way his own eyes were tinged in red as well, leftover tear tracks dried on his cheeks.
