Summary
Thomas is the kind of guy who does a reading for class and treats it like an opening night performance—loud, brilliant, and completely exhausting. James, on the other hand, just wants to look at the data, finish the project, and survive senior year without getting an ulcer. They’re a disaster on paper, but a mandatory capstone project forces them into the same small corner of the library every single afternoon. Between navigating a friend group that feels like a constant hurricane and arguing over things that have absolutely nothing to do with school, the space between them starts getting smaller. It’s a slow, annoying slide into realizing that maybe they actually make sense together.

I am participating in @seth-whumps Whumperless Whump Event for July 2026!
Get ready for 31 different stories featuring our lovely Ryland Grace. These are mostly stories about Grace and Rocky's relationship through the lens of whump, but Adrian, Carl, Stratt, original Eridians, and Colt are featured as well.

But Rocky uses another claw to grab a tissue and wipe at his skin. His touch is always surprisingly tender for being a rock.
“Did you think…” His voice trails off. “Did you think I was gonna -”
“No,” Rocky says immediately. “Grace sick. Grace hurt. But Grace no die.”
Grace nods. “I wouldn’t have gotten through this without you.”
Rocky dabs the tears around his eyes away. “Rocky would not be here without Grace.”

Summary
Has he seen this guy before? Simon furrowed his brows as they held the silence, trying to shift through the fog. No, no. Surely not. He'd never seen this dork of a man in entire life. Not even in passing.
surely.Then.. What about him seemed so familiar?
“Morning,” was shoved politely out of the dork’s mouth, like he’d been holding it in since the top of the stairs.”Mornin’,” Simon’s head jerked barely downwards, acknowledging his greeting. With the nod, surprisingly, the yellow coat quickly shuffled off in the other direction. Simon couldn't take his eyes off of him, partially shocked that's what this guy landed on after sitting and staring for so long. All that time to think about what you’re going to say and it's not even a good morning?
What was this guy’s deal?

Kinda hard to adjust to a whole new state & your dream job when your upstairs neighbor/new coworker gives you enough second hand embarrassment to kill a horse. At least he's not half bad to look at.

Summary
Grace assumed he was a streamer.
«...Was that the Bite of '87?» The man's voice was low and rough, sending an inexplicable shiver down Grace's spine. He firmly decided not to examine that reaction any further, lest he embarrass himself in front of his students. The rest of the screen exploded with messages from what Grace assumed must have been a live chat.

Grace is our beloved middle-school science teacher, he loves his job and his precious kids, while Simon is a streamer with a large following; fate made so that their worlds have crossed.
