He watched as Subaru-Sama slowly shuffled his elbows against the bed and hoisted his upper body up to glance at the intruder, at Reinhard. The recognition was pure bliss to his senses. "Subaru-Sama, are you alright?"
"Ah, Reinhard." Reinhard felt something tingly in his stomach at the way Subaru had said his name. He didn't know what it was, he just knew he wanted more of that.

"Maybe Subaru of all people would skip, but definitely not Reinhard." Ferris hums and nods with Julius' explanation before belatedly laughing.
"Oh, i don't think you have to worry about them, nya." Julius raises a brow.
Before he can ask, Ferris turns their phone around to show Julius a message. There, at the top of the screen is a picture of Subaru and Reinhard presumably laying cuddled up together in Subaru's bed as Reinhard is completely knocked out in the background with a prominent flush on his face while Subaru holds the phone up, one hand showing the peace sign and sticking his tongue out cheekily at the camera.
Below the selfie, Subaru writes, 'We're both sick, so enjoy school losers.'
Julius makes a bemused sound. "What could've happened in one day for them both to get sick?"

He throws reason to the incinerator and crushes logic with a sledgehammer. Next, he shoves instinct into the cockpit and lets his body move on autopilot.
Read: he takes the Sword Saint's left hand with his right, gets down on one knee, and says: "Then will you marry me" more as a statement than a question.

Summary
Subaru can count on several hands how many times he has been ghosted by other people because he was annoying, overbearing, and never fit in. Like clockwork he would give his heart and they would drop it and turn away, leaving Subaru to wipe away his tears and pick up the pieces. It would sting but it got easier to handle over time, especially now that he has his friends. That is until now, when Reinhard missed a meet up with Subaru. That's fine, maybe he was busy. Then he started leaving rooms that Subaru would walk into, always with an excuse on his tongue. Then... he stopped coming over. And that stinging got much worse. Unfortunately for Reinhard, once a dog has eaten enough meals, they refuse to settle for table scraps again.
