Hawks tore his eyes away from the spot on the table he’d been staring at to meet Nakajima-sama’s. He could feel a cold dread starting to spread across him. He couldn’t get himself to admit it, but he already knew where this was going, what they wanted from him.
“Do you really think this is the first time we’ve been forced to do something like this? We protect our heroes. We look out for them. That is our purpose…to make sure our heroes can do their job out there in the light. And that means that we have to do our job in the dark. Do the things they can’t do, but must be done.
