The anonymous front man of Maia Revolt, the one who writes all the music, who can sing like an angel and scream like a demon, who's never been spotted in public without the band's signature old-gods-meet-new-metal costume on, is Halbrand. Her first neighbor, first friend, the boy with ears a little too big for his head, who was always practicing piano in her parents' living room and falling out of his chair during second grade phonics.
Her Halbrand. The guy she was going to love forever, until she almost killed them both. Mairon is him.

She almost runs into Gil, who gives her a funny look, and she tries to shake it off. They have an hour and she needs to eat, refresh her recollection of the morning’s testimony, and not think about how it would feel, safe and cozy, somewhere else, somewhere warm and soft, with that horrible attorney out there naked on top of her, leaning in to bite her throat, to sink his teeth into her mating gland, to pierce her skin and lap up the blood and claim her as his own.
She hates him. She hates his gorgeous face, she hates his sexy voice, she hates that even her absorbent period underwear can't keep up when she catches a whiff of him.

She isn't sure why she's covering herself when he's looking at her like that, with a little half-guilty, half-charming smile that makes her nipples harden behind her fingers.

Melkor's repentance was always false. And when Aulë sensed the growing presence of a familiar spirit, and then a great tempest at sea, he knew plenty of his order believed Mairon to be false, as well - always would. But eternity offers ample chance to learn from the past and to reshape the future. By the time Artanis called for him by name, he had little choice but to answer.

(Or: Bronwyn becomes an accidental voyeur and is pretty into it, Galadriel learns some new things about her husband's past and her own desires, Arondir just wanted to get some rest but is open to new ideas, and Halbrand is enjoying all of this way too much.)
