    Dunk stopped, his hand freezing on the latch.

    Aerion's voice was low. The controlled quiet was gone, replaced by something raw, though it remained sharp, twisted into the only shape Aerion knew how to give to the things that mattered.

    "I do not permit it," the prince whispered.

    A sharp, ragged pause followed, the sound of a man reaching the absolute limit of what he could allow himself to reveal before forcing the emotion back down into a weapon.

    "Return to me." He turned his head just enough for Dunk to see the harsh line of his jaw. "So that I may kill you myself."

    Prince Aerion Targaryen should have ordered the hedge knight’s execution. Instead, he offers him something neither expected. As rebellion spreads across Westeros, a dangerous secret binds the two men and could change the fate of House Targaryen forever.

He thought of Egg’s bright eyes, twinned in Aerion’s dull snake slits. They were so similar yet so different, the gods playing a cruel joke on the pair.

    Aerion’s beauty contrasted with his violent attitude in this light, shaped by light and the shadows of trees. He was all geometric lines and sharp features—a paragon of true Targaryen beauty.—]

    Duncan, after the tragedy of Ashford Meadow, was bestowed a son of Maekar. To his deep disappointment, the son was not Egg—instead his older, and much more dilapidated, brother. Aerion.

    TLDR: What if Aerion became Dunk’s squire instead of Egg?
