Summary
Heaven, Hell and the mortal realm have always existed. Humans were born of free will, Heaven and Hell attempting to persuade their choices in life to prepare them to enter their respective kingdoms in death. Eventually a Great War broke out between angels and demons that threatened to rip all three realms apart. That was thousands of years ago, so long that the demons in Hell no longer have records of the finer points of waging war with Heaven. Peace between had been tentative at best since the war and eventually collapsed.
The angels began to exterminate the demons of Hell once a year. Every year the demons became more resentful. More determined to rise up. All they needed was an edge. It unexpectedly came one night when Overload Alastor witnessed a star crashing down. Imagine his utter delight to discover that for the first time in known history an Angel had fallen.
Oh this will be fun.

[...Lucifer is on his feet before he knows it, pulling the blanket down to see something he thought he’d never see again.
A baby.
A nephilim.
The half-angel half-human stares up at him with large golden eyes, tan chubby cheeks morphing into a wide toothless smile, and squeals.
“Charlie.”
“I don’t know Dad!"]

Charlie and Vaggi find a half-angel half-human baby. Feeling his parental instincts going wild and having knowledge of half-angels, Lucifer offers to take care of her. It all goes well, too well, until they are attacked.
Injured and powers draining, Lucifer summons a portal to take him and the baby somewhere safe by Charlie's command.
Only, the portal leaves him in 1930, powerless and floundering. Oh, and past Alastor is here! How nice. Gosh, Lucifer hates that guy.

Summary
Azrael's feelings on Lucifer Morningstar were... complicated.
In his opinion, Lucifer’s greatest mistake wasn't in giving humans free will, it wasn't bringing Hell into existence with their flawed minds unable to resist temptation. It was that he'd rushed in, had made the Fruit alone, hadn't thought through what he was doing. Because of that, he not only let them choose between right and wrong, he set them free without the blissfully ignorant immortality of the angels.
Thus one who was meant to sleep, to remain unaware of all for eons, was awakened.
Azrael, the angel meant to be the End of All Things, was given the title of the Seraphim of Death. His aspect, a small portion of the true destructive power he would one day wield, was Known to this universe the same moment that Eve bit into the Fruit and felt the fear of it.
