Summary
Sidon does not wish to be King just yet- but with his father falling ill, it is a must for him to raise to the throne. There is a problem however: he's an unmarried alpha without a mate. And the zora council- a bunch of old, conservative men just won't have that. A scandal that hit the royal family some years ago definitely did not help their views on the matter, either.
There are rules and traditions among society that he as an alpha must follow, which only adds to his frustrations for he does not have time to waste for senseless courting.
Lucky him, he's best friend with the Hylian Champion, known for bullshitting his way through literally everything. -

"You know how your father is known, outside his castle?"
Zelda tensed up. Sidon knelt behind her and grabbed her shoulders with his large hands, as if to console her. She turned to glare at him- she did not need his pity. The large zora offered her still, the gentlest of smiles.
"Yes" she said, turning back to the Empress. Her lower lip trembled as she thought of it all- the death of his mother, the grief of her people as the King spiralled faster and faster down a path with no return.
She thought of her father's slaves, his crimes. Of all the things she was sure he would do to her, once he finally lost control of his mind.
She thought of Link's promise to take her away. Of saving her.
Sidon whispered to her to be brave, not to cry, that no one will hurt her. Only then Zelda noticed, that she was crying indeed.
Letting out a shaky breath, she answered: "They call him the Mad King". -

"My Prince" the queen said, "You break my heart".
Sidon blinked, his smile almost faltered. "Your highness, I beg your pardon?".
"Where is your costume?" she asked.
Well indeed, Prince Sidon came to the Masquerade with his finest regalia and adornments, but wore not even a mask to cover his face. Truth be told, he cared so very little about being the only one attending without a costume, since he never meant to fit himself into one, in the first place.
Clearing his throat and placing a hand to his chest, he gave her a light bow before he spoke.
"With all due respect, my Queen" he said, "I am already a big, red shark". -

No matter how far he would go, he'd always find himself with Anaxagoras again. It never mattered what lifetime he'd end up in, he always found his way back.
