What if the Devil fell in love with a woman? What if an orphan defied an Emperor?
Rhonan wasn’t born a hero; he was born a mistake. A street-rat from a forgotten village, he's only known fighting, ridicule, and the silence of gods who never seem to answer. But after he's forced to flee his home, he's swept into the greatest colosseum in the world, where gladiators earn glory with blood and skill beneath the watchful eye of the Emperor.
Yet, the blood spilled in the arena is nothing compared to the darkness creeping across Eorda. Unknown horrors and the crumbling ruins of a forgotten past whisper a terrifying truth. For four-thousand years, a secret has been buried in the dirt — a secret about Paradise and the Devil. Rhonan crosses paths with Queen Laylana. Though she wears a crown, she is as much a prisoner as he is. Bound by an unlikely connection, the street-rat and the queen are dragged into a conspiracy that could shatter faith itself. Rhonan realizes that some battles cannot be won with fists alone. To save the world, he must first have to survive the arena... and one day stand before the Emperor himself.
