Summary
Back when I watch the end of episode 8 of the first season of Arcane, and when none of us knew we’d be waiting three long years for season 2, I couldn’t stop replaying that final scene. Vi disappears into the rain, Caitlyn is left drenched on the Council steps, and the night seems to slam shut around them. I kept wishing Vi would turn back, that they’d steal even a moment of peace in each other’s arms.
So I wrote the moment myself. What follows is a canon-adjacent “missing scene” that slips neatly between episode 8 and everything the show later delivers. Nothing in the larger story changes; this is simply the breath I wanted them to take, a night where Vi returns, the rain becomes a backdrop instead of a barrier, and the two of them move from heartbreak to hesitant intimacy, told through twin viewpoints and all the emotional knots the series leaves dangling.
It started as a gift to soothe my own heart; now I’m sharing it in case your heart wanted the same rewrite. -

Summary
One century after a solar flare laced Earth’s air with glitter-bright Helion dust, humanity splits in two. Haven’s elite shelter in deep Arks; the rest are left to breathe poison. Most die. The few who live become Dustborn, their empathy sanded away by crystal exposure.
In 3018 Haven finally rises. Air-scrubber towers promise a clean sky, but the surface is ruled by Silco and his warped protégée Jinx, once Vi’s kid sister Powder.
Haven sends its best: Caitlyn Kiramman, ice-sharp scientist; Vi, pink-haired brawler; tech prodigy Ekko; and gentle engineer Viktor. Their mission: defend the towers, broker peace with wary clans, and pull Powder back from the chaos that renamed her.
Every trek through glass forests and venting fissures turns colleagues into a slow-burn love, tests makeshift gadgets, and proves that the world can learn to breathe and feel again.

Their paths cross when Caitlyn finally sees through the veil that’s been drawn over her life and begins searching for the full truth.
In a world where love can be pirated, trauma sold, and reality rewritten, two women must decide what it truly means to remember and what is worth forgetting.

Summary

After meeting at Vi's bar "The Pit," they develop a deep connection that challenges the rigid traditions of the monarchy.
When their relationship is discovered, the Crown attempts to force Caitlyn back into line. Instead of submitting, Caitlyn chooses to expose the monarchy's dark secrets and corruption, revealing years of covered-up abuse, addiction, and tragedy within the royal family.

Vi scoffed and stomped forward, the gravel crunching beneath her feet as she approached Caitlyn, who looked up at her with an empty, disinterested expression.
She stopped right in front of her, chest puffed out, voice dripping with venom.
“Good lord, Kiramman, maybe pace yourself for once. What’s the plan? Smoke yourself into an early grave so we don’t have to deal with you anymore?”
Caitlyn’s head jerked slightly, her features a cool mask of indifference.
“Though I am flattered by your concern," she said icily, taking a slow, deliberate drag from her cigarette, “I assure you that I am perfectly capable of handling myself, thank you very much.”
“Oh, yeah? Is that why you’re here?”
Caitlyn slightly perked one of her eyebrows. The look on her face made Vi immediately feel incredibly stupid and childish.
“No. I am here to smoke a cigarette. In peace. Why are you here?”

Summary
Dr. Kiramman steers her through the chaos and plants her in a chair. Does something to her arm that hurts like fuck, then drapes her in bags of ice and wraps her in a sling. Blinds her with a pen light—“Called it,” she mumbles when he confirms she’s concussed—and presses two pills and a warm mug into her hand. It smells herbaceous. Familiar.
“I brought the good stuff from home,” Dr. Kiramman confesses, and it takes her a moment to understand he means tea. “Extra honey for you. I know you haven’t acquired the taste.”
He’s right in that she only actually drank it once, the first time it was offered—the afternoon they spoke to the Council, several lifetimes ago. But she tasted it just this morning in Caitlyn’s mouth, grassy and sweet. So she pops the pills and takes a sip. Tries not to think about whether that terrified kiss over breakfast was their last. “I want to see her.”
After the war, Vi and Cait recover, and rebuild.

"I'll stitch you up when you are back to consciousness" she mumbled, completely wrapped up in the dressing of the wound. So much so that she did not notice the voice that addressed her, at first.
A female voice with a very distinct American accent. The voice sounded exhausted, parched, low, but strong.
"If you're talking to me, you're going to have to speak English sweetheart"
Caitlyn's eyes widened as she looked up from dressing the wound and cerulean eyes found the greyest ones she had ever seen, sending a rush through her that she was unfamiliar with.
Then, Caitlyn spoke.
English this time, laced with a light French accent.
"I told you your wound would need to be stitched up when you were to wake" she simply informed her, ignoring how heart her started pounding yet again.

During the summer of 1943, Caitlyn rescues US Air Force pilot Violet McAdams from a plane wreck in the French country side, and decides to hide her on her farm to allow her wounds to heal properly.
Neither of them in prepared for the romance that follows this foolish, yet courageous decision.
