Summary
When Qi Rong and his little brother, Guzi, moved away from his abusive father's house to live with the isolated Jian Lan, he didn't expect to be thrown from one nightmare into the next. He should have known something was off by the way many of the people in Puqi village looked at him like he was an anomaly. Whispering to one another and watching him like a hawk. But it wasn't until the murders that he realized that he would either have to find out who was responsible or escape to protect his baby brother. Luckily, he seems to have help, even if they look at him weird as well.

If it wasn’t for Guzi’s agonizing cries and clinging so desperately to the remnants of Qi Rong’s soul, he would’ve never put him in that lantern. He would’ve squashed Qi Rong where he was, snuffing him out like the pesky ember he was. But he didn’t. He begrudgingly didn’t. Guzi was too attached to the damn ghost and he didn’t want to scar the poor kid more than he already was! How could Lang Qianqiu ever forgive him for the murder of his family? How could he ever find it in his heart to forget? And how could it ever be possible for Lang Qianqiu to love him?
