Summary
It is not that Ivan lacks the words or actions. He has many. He enjoys reading, trying to understand how humans exist by each other's side. Building a repertoire of actions in his mind. Under his breath, he is able to recite the synonyms for desire. Want. Hunger. Longing. Flower. Star. Hand. Hourglass. Red. Next, he repeats the corresponding actions. Take. Consume. Chase. Bloom. Shine. Punch. Turn. Love.
None of these appeals to him. Not until there is Till, for whom the corresponding verb is also Till. Till, Till, Till. It is the only sound that travels through the utter silence of the vacuum, keeping him rooted in the universe. His body, made of vapor, only begins to condense under those fingers.
