Dedede vaguely remembered, if at all, what went down when he was under the control of the newest big bad of the month. Something he considered for the best. But, sometimes he finds himself put into a scenario where an uncomfortable familiarity washes over him.
Sometimes when his stomach rumbled, he used to panic and check to see if something tore open to reveal a second mouth.
Insects still gave him the heeby jeebies, Nova help him if he accidently ran into a web because then he'll completely freak out.
And he can't help but keep a considerable distance between him and Gooey simply on this bad feeling in his gut.
But at the end of the day, they were manageable little tics that seemed to fade away with time. Nothing he'd write home about.
Until recently.
because now, it seems it's somehow gotten in the way of his favorite pastime.
