    Dexter liked his crime scenes with rhythm, the choreography of people whose job is to notice things arranging themselves around a body in a way that makes sense. Patrol holds the perimeter. Crime Scene works the immediate radius. Homicide works the story. Everyone has a lane, and everyone stays in it, and the whole apparatus moves like something built on purpose, because it was.
    They're honest. Blood doesn't lie, unlike almost everyone standing around it...
    This was not going to be one of those days.
    He knew it before he even got out of the car, because there was a man, crouched, no shoes, at the edge of the tape who had no business being there, and nobody was doing a single thing about it.
