Renjun drowns the trespassing mortal as is his due.
They were beautiful, yes, but so are his sisters and his kin, spread across the lands. One mortal is hardly anything, cockroaches that they are. Another will simply take its place in the Fates’ loom. Once the current has rinsed away the suppleness of their skin - only then would Renjun let them loose, free for the fish to devour.
All too soon however, his river receives another visitor - three, to be exact.

Summary
There could be nothing wilder than a child – one who had yet to learn the taste of fear, but a whole world left to roam and full of mistakes that weren't yet made. A little more would be all it took to make the ones that go on to haunt the rest of a life.
Mark met Donghyuck with the weight of claws struggling under his skin, growl in his throat: a threat response. It never quite abated. Maybe it worked a little too well.
Mark never learned what it meant to give up.

Donghyuck meets Mark again when the weight of years had passed and left behind a worn bitterness, smooth like a river-rounded stone in his clenched fist. He feels the heft of it, heavy; cold; lying in his hand whenever that person proves to exist.
That weight follows from television screens, to billboards, magazines, his voice mixed with five others in song and now, to be opposites on stage.
Donghyuck refuses to learn how to let go.

“You okay?” He hears a voice ask, Dick going to lift his head up only to gasp in pain.
“Ooh, not okay, alright,” the voice says, rushing up to him and immediately pressing a hand to his chest. Dick looks up to him and blinks a few times, confusion flooding him as he tries to make sense of who is kneeling above him.
“Jason?” He asks, watching as they tilt their head to the side.
“Is that your name?” The voice asks. “Hi Jason, I’m Spider-Man.”
Or, Dick finds himself in a place where no one knows who he is.
