    Nijika hummed back unenthusiastically, not sparing any attention from her phone. Whatever stupid thing Ryo was about to say next was probably not worth the energy.

    “What are we?”

    The blonde paused, darting her eyes back and forth as if to do a double take, almost like it would let her hear the words again.

    Ryo Yamada was not the kind of person to ask that question, let alone actually care about that kind of thing. Nijika had long ago accepted that her ideal shoujo manga-like romance would never come to fruition, so long as Ryo was the person to whom her heart belonged. And she definitely was.
