The next minute seemed to happen in slow motion, Ava turned to leave, slipped on one of the toys in the waiting room, and fell backwards directly into a side table, the table toppled over and along with it the coffee machine which made a loud crash as it hit the floor.(Farmer Ava makes a great first impression by breaking the clinic's coffee machine and starts bringing Harvey coffee to apologize. Harvey gets a crush, denies it, and freaks out about it. They're both dumbasses but everything works out in the end)

The weight of Tav’s body gently presses down on him as she bends to kiss him- he’s aware of the feeling of her- all over, constant, soothing, ethereal. He arches up, leaning deeper into her mouth, a fire burning in his chest, spreading to his extremities. The ache in his chest feels similar to the hunger the Orb once made him feel- but this particular hunger is somehow infinitely stronger, and her body is the only cure.
They part, and he can feel her warm breath ghost over his skin as she rests her forehead against his.
“I’ve missed this,” he confesses.
“So have I,” she laughs breathily, “but you really should be resting up.” She speaks as though trying to remind herself just why she needs to hold back. “That salve isn’t going to do much if you’re exerting yourself.”
“It might be worth the risk.”
“Maybe. If you let me do all the hard work,” she flashes a mischievous grin.

“Oh, as opinionated as always.” She waved a hand dismissively. “Being busy with his new position at Blackstaff leaves him with much less time to argue. And besides, I raised him to have good taste.”
Tara recalled a recent afternoon spent hunched over Gale’s kitchen table, mother and son debating the merits of different kinds of lilies for so long that Octavia had decamped to the library, only re-emerging when Gale had Sent her for dinner.

It’s the quieter moments that are the worst. When Waterdeep itself sleeps in peaceful reverie and the pain yells for attention, he can hear the ticking of that clock. There’s such fleeting time to make something of himself again - now free of the expectation of his peers or his goddess, just himself.
He runs a hand down his face, a cold smile tugging at his lips.
It’s just another push to his own folly if saving the world from illithid invasion somehow doesn’t feel like enough anymore.
