Stiles didn’t answer right away. He looked out the window for a second, his expression tightening, and when he turned back, his voice was quiet.
“Bone cancer,” he said. “Osteosarcoma, to be specific. I’m on my first round of chemo. They started it last week.”

He gets the appeal. A pharmacy, an optometrist, mobile phone services, garage, meats, frozen produce, furniture– anything, really.
Sure, this one is a bit… destroyed, decrepit. But if you know where to look, or if you’re a good climber, there are still good products around, even after all these years.You can maybe even find a boyfriend.

"You've been avoiding me," Peter says. Stiles just shrugs. "Are you going to tell me why, or do I have to guess?" Stiles would love to glare at him and snark back like they always do, but her nerves are just too frayed and she doesn't have it in her. Peter seems to sense this and frowns, his face morphing into one of concern. "Stiles..?"
He takes a few steps closer, slowly as if he's trying not to startle her and that makes her want to let out a hysterical laugh, but she keeps it in. He sets his hand on her shoulder, the other going to the side of her neck. He frowns at the way her pulse is racing, as if he needs to physically confirm what his ears are already telling him. She lets him touch her, knowing without even needing to think about it that he won't hurt her. She does let out a bitter little laugh at that. Well, physically he won't.
"What is it?" he asks and the genuine concern in his voice almost breaks her. He leans down and stares into her eyes, their faces so close, and she sees his nostrils flare. "You smell...different."
Well, that's her cue.
"I'm pregnant," she whispers.

If he’s gotten a new one, he hasn’t shared the number with anyone—not Maddie, not Chris, and certainly not Eddie.
So Eddie lays in a too-soft bed in a too-small cabin in the middle of bumfuck Nebraska, the first grey light of dawn creeping its fingers past the dusky pink curtains, and reads the postcard again. He knows what it says by heart, but it makes him feel a little less alone to hear Buck’s voice in his head.
