Summary
Rainbow Island is beautiful.
Zoey still can’t believe she managed to get the teleporter at all, let alone functioning and working. It only took an entire year of her life, but whatever, she’s here now, and that’s all that matters. Thank god for Mira, too, who helped shoulder a good half of the workload.
And now they’re here.
And so is Rumi.
Zoey is still trying to wrap her head around that one.
She was, very specifically, told that Rainbow Island had gone uninhabited for years, that something happened to make everyone clear out, and that...wasn’t true at all, actually. Well, it’s mostly true. Rumi is the only person they’ve seen this far, and the only other traces of someone being on the island at all come in the form of research drones, but those aren’t even dated. Rumi has been very nice in helping them out with finding those, but she’s insistent that she didn’t write them and that they’ve always been there, and she really has no reason to lie, so that makes everything...complicated. Weird and complicated, at that.

Rumi would handle it; Rumi was always able to handle it. "She's the coolest," she whispers before letting sleep wash over her, hand held limply in Mira's own.
"Fuck yeah she is." The last words she heard, neither noticing the way the honmoon pulsed around them. Calling for help that would never come, too caught up in the security their leader had given them to allow themselves a moment to think of what they might have missed.
