Jason knows Dick is different.
Which is why Jason is sitting next to a gargoyle, looking over Gotham’s smoggy streets and watching the people mill about their days, and flipping his phone in his hand. He’s considering, is all. Trying to figure out what to say. Should he open with a confirmation code? With a joke? With a simple ‘hey’?
There’s a chance that Dick won’t pick up at all, really. Jason’s burner is an entirely new number. It’s technically a New York area code, too, because no one likes to fly into Gotham on account of all the smog and Rogue attacks (not like Jason can blame them. Can you imagine how much of a fucking hassle it’d be to try and keep a whole commercial airline full of civillians safe? Not to mention that the Rogues would take ruthless advantage of a sealed location. Bleh.), so it’ll be extra unfamiliar. Dick might think he’s a spam caller.
OR:
Dick said Jason could always call him.
Freshly back in Gotham, Jason tests if it's still true.

Sometimes is easy to forget that robin, is, as a matter of a fact, a kid, a very tiny diabolical child, but one none the less, and you know what the kids do when they get scared? Call for their parents
Unluckily for them, the parent this child cries for is a 6'6 foot tall man that half of Gotham thinks is actually a cryptid, and around the years, the stories of what happens when someone hurts the little birds enough for them to cry for help have become real life horror tells.

Talon thought the tiny human — child? — might be dead at first with how still it was, but then its eyes had opened, seeing Talon, and promptly scrambled backwards.
Talon wonders what it's doing here alone. Humans this size tend to be well protected by their nest mothers and fathers. Has the little one wandered off?
Talon coos again, scooting a little closer.
No matter. The tiny human will go cold if Talon leaves it here, and unlike with Talon, humans do not become warm again once they’ve been cold.
