Solas smirked, mirthlessly, and shook his head. "Tell me, truly, what difference does that make to them?" His voice was kinder than she expected. She forced herself to listen. He looked at the mark and it sputtered under his gaze. "I am sorry, Enaste." Deep sympathy etched his voice, and when he let go of her hand, she wished he hadn't. "You should not have to bear this burden." Their eyes met, and she lost every word she'd ever known.
A long, heavy moment passed between them. She had a sudden urge to pull him close, to feel his body against hers. He was broad, for an elf, and would surely overwhelm her. His lips were soft and full. How would it feel to kiss him? Would he kiss her back?
An Inquisition fic following Enaste Lavellan, a very normal woman who makes great decisions, gets a regular amount of sleep, and is fun and easy to be around. Contains sensitive subject matter, viewer discretion is advised.

“A horse is not your style,” Ennaly said, keeping her voice casual, trying to ignore this new feeling inside her, as Solas supported her. “A halla, perhaps?”
“How about a wyvern?”
“No – I know, a wolf!” Ennaly decided.
“A wolf?” Solas repeated, surprised.
“Yes, that’s more your style. Isn’t that what you’re wearing around your neck, the jawbone?”
A few seconds passed before he replied. “That is true.”
She smiled to herself at his almost reluctant confirmation. “So, we agree. A wolf, then.”***
After initially dismissing him as too proud, Ennaly slowly grows closer towards Solas, and for a moment… he seems interested. But when a spark starts to grow in her, he seems to disregard her again. Wasn't he here to help her understand everything more instead of less? If only Solas was more in tune with her.(Or, a re-interpretation that extends the canon and fills in the gaps.)
