Summary
Observation 1 : Jayce is terrible at taking care of himself. It is a regular occurrence that he neglects sleep, nutrition and his own mental health in favour of work. The consequences are numerous and detrimental to his well-being, as well as their progress on the Hexgates.
Observation 2 : Jayce is incredibly responsive to direct orders and praise, and seems—on a subconscious level—increasingly more willing to accomplish a task if given an outside command.
A hypothesis is drawn.

Summary
“Jayce Talis, you are summarily expelled from the Academy, and exiled from Piltover and all of her territories. ... If you are within the city borders after sundown you will be found in violation of your sentence and imprisoned in Stillwater Hold.”
The Council couldn't be convinced, and Jayce Talis’ trial ends with him being exiled from Piltover. While the Undercity would be included as a part of Piltover, Jayce finds that they do not care as long as he never steps foot on the north side of the river again, and ends up impulsively taking in three children who have also lost everything.

Summary
Viktor’s fingers hovered over Jayce’s neck, his mind consumed by a single, chilling thought: He could end him here, right now. Piltover would lose its brightest engineer, a critical blow to their progress. His grip tightened instinctively as he imagined the advantage it would bring.
But the unconscious man remained still, his skin impossibly soft beneath Viktor’s palm, his neck fragile, too fragile.
With a heavy sigh, Viktor released his grip, his hand falling away. He hefted the lifeless body over his shoulder.
Why am I saving him? Viktor questioned, but the answer never came.

Jayce pauses to steady himself on the wall, he’s running out of strength in his arms. The other version of Viktor, the lonely mage who’d insisted there was only one, violent solution to the problem of himself, had reluctantly given him a tip. Physical touch , he had said, will temporarily disarm him. But you must kill him from a distance, do not let him get close.
