Summary
The trade route—what Ard’s father, Digaras, called a trade route—extended from horizon to horizon. Behind the hill and onward to more woods, which were different from the woods Ard’s little village hugged against. All in all, more than half a day’s walk. Not close by but Ard’s village was not far enough away either.

Summary
The bowl was really the cherry on top of the shit sundae that Augustus' life had become. It wasn't even his fault that he landed himself in this predicament—maybe bearing it would be easier if it were. The steak in the bowl was, of course, top quality—he could tell by the scent—and raw because, God forbid, the bloodsucker would allow him any pretenses at all.

Summary
Being a princess had its charms. If Pavetta hinted she would like to see someone for dinner, even if it was the Witcher who Pavetta's mother had initially hired to ruin Pavetta’s life, no one would question her. Not even the Witcher himself. Thought this might be because she implied she would send the guard for him if he doesn’t show under his own power.

Summary
The stories in the series are only related if anyone wants them to be.
The unidentified black thing plugging up the stab wound in Orihara's side dissipated without a trace about two hours into the car ride. Manami wouldn't have noticed but the driver—a thin, bald man who introduced himself as Kine in the short seconds that the both of them had for introductions—mentioned that the smell was getting thicker. It took Manami a long moment of confusion to recognize he meant the smell of blood.

Summary
The stories in the series are only related if anyone wants them to be.
In the bleak midwinter, Shizuo’s mind supplied, unbidden. He had occasional flashes of memories and associations from times gone by. This one being particularly egregious for the situation that spawned it.
Shizuo was never any good at English, despite his parent’s best efforts and investment. He got frustrated too easily. And when he got frustrated, he got angry, and when he got angry, he got violent, and that was pretty much that for all of his private tutors. He learned what he learned at school. And in school, about this time of the year, they would have been listening to carols. For cultural enrichment and broadening of the student’s horizons. Shizuo didn’t really know what the song was about or even what the next line would be, but, in the bleak midwinter, he knew that much.

Summary
October skies stretched blue and endless over rural Hibari estate. Kyouya kept the place in working order year round but he preferred to visit in mid autumn when the clouds rising over the mountains were especially spectacular and constant cicada songs died down some with the end of summer. Early in the morning bird songs could be just as loud in the area but Koyouya didn’t mind those as much.

Please feel free to disregard this prequel if the multitude of consent issues worries you!
Dezath had not been one of the ancients, spoken of in hushed tones among the halls of Hells, but he had achieved much. He was proud of his ascent to one of the Infernal Thrones, and it was not treasonous to speak of it among his underlings. Indeed, the ancients came to learn from Dezath. To behold a feat of prowess, which none of them had even attempted before—with his own two hands, Dezath of the Third Hell had captured himself an angel. He had snared a spark of heavens and made it so the divine creature survived its imprisonment in Hells long enough to be shown.

Summary
Assassination–murder–was generally only brought up with last year students, invested enough that balking at the idea would mean derailing their entire lives. Finishing the course meant contacts, support and opportunity. Flunking out– Well. No one liked a quitter.

Did Kariya have regrets? Yes. Plenty. Interestingly, all of them manifested in the visage of his summoned servant. A huge beast of a man, screaming mad, in constant pain and consumed by darkness.
The reality could be so on the nose sometimes.

Summary
Demons lie. The demon, who was currently possessing the head priestess of the abbey that Satalia’s band had been hired to check up on, couldn’t be the exception. He would say anything vaguely believable to keep Laghar and the paladin busy inside of the pocket dimension while it drained them.

Sam assumed John told him about as much about his daily dealings as Sam told John of his. They were both better off knowing as little as possible. For three days they were holed-up in the Castle by the Road again, but before that John had actually been in court a few times. And Sam had almost been caught a few times.

Summary
Walther had been ordained a priest a few short months before the start of the conflict; when the tensions were high already but not yet exploding into senseless violence. Unbeknownst to him the village he was sent to minister at–quaint but beautiful, truly picturesque in that it was situated in a wide bow of a calm, steady river–was to be one of the first to burn.
