Summary
It’s been two years.
Two years since the 4*Town concert they went to without Mei.
Two years since Mei’s ritual to seal her red panda spirit away.
Two years since Mei fell out of their friend group.
Two years of passing her in the hallways, seeing her in a couple of mutual classes, excelling with the perfect grades, kissing up to the teachers, and engaging with all of the academic extracurricular activities that would make any parent proud.
Mei tossed them aside to live a perfect, untainted life.
What did they do? They decided to live their lives without her, and they were happy enough without her.
And now Mei tries to kill herself?

Very powerful fic. The character writing is very good, they feel very accurate to the original characters. The emotions are very palpable. I sense some lightly queer subtext with Miriam and Mei, but maybe that's just me. Overall, 10/10.

Never thought I'd like a character/reader fic this much, yet here we are (of course I still imagined an OC of mine instead of myself though, although I suppose that's not all that different from self shipping, but oh well). While it's not my favorite depiction of Wally in hindsight, I still love the story and the writing. I seriously loved the plot in this, the cliffhanger at the end of chapter 22 left me emotionally destroyed the whole week while I was waiting for the next update. That is not an exaggeration. Also, both the proposal and the wedding made me cry in a good way, obviously.

Summary
A wave of nostalgia washed over her as she ran a gentle hand over the worn cover. It was once a vibrant shade of pink, but it was muted now after years of neglect. The corners of the cover were fraying, and a few pages inside were barely holding onto the spine of the book, which made Uniqua frown. She had forgotten all about this journal, but now that she was holding it in her hands, she wished she had taken better care of it.
As Uniqua settles into her college dorm, she happens to find her childhood journal, which takes her on an unexpected trip down memory lane.

The Backyardigans was basically my whole childhood, so of course I loved this. But, other than that, it's generally just well written and very sweet. I like the more bittersweet approach, it just makes it more, like, realistic and relatable in a way, ya know? Anyways, 10/10. Short, sweet, and very good. :)

Bookmarker's Notes
I've personally never been a fan of Wally being depicted as a villain, but this one just drew me in. He's such a menace, yet he's adorable at the same time, and I loved it. Very captivating plot, anytime you think things are getting wholesome and nice, the rug is just snatched. I usually don't like reading stuff with a bad ending, but this one was so cool that I just had to read it to the end.
