Summary
Their family may not exactly be functional, but Vergil, Dante, and Nero are making things work the best they can. When Nero decides he wants to go to school, it presents Vergil with new challenges in his journey of fatherhood: Relearning life without a child by his side, accepting he can't always protect his son, and, hardest of all, learning to let Nero go.
But in the midst of this, Vergil's own traumatic childhood threatens his relationships with his son and brother. That coupled with an ever-growing threat lurking over the family may finally lead to the downfall they've been fighting so desperately against from the start.

Summary
Fortuna had a way of eating away at people.
As a native, I never understood the census travelers seemed to agree upon behind our backs.
Was it the islands exposure to all four seasons year round? A place of beginnings and ends that threw wonders off?
Certainly the Order could be too much at times. Such dedication to bleed in to the islands way of life was something that could only be bred from histories long lost in the thick tropics that’s surrounded the city.
But now, I think I understand it.
A storm arrived that left no stone unturned in his quest for power. And there, I got to be witness how Fortuna changes a man.

He was stripped of both of his clothing and his pride. The wounds his half-human body suffered at the hands of Mundus were on full display. His physical being may have been broken, but his mind— his mind was strong. Your job was to break his will— prime him for his transformation into a loyal slave.

Trying to hide from any demons that might be pursuing him while also figuring out how to raise a child with issues of his own, Vergil knows he's in way over his head.
But Nero is his son and his responsibility. Learning to live with each other may not be easy, but Vergil is determined to make it work. He's never shied away from a challenge, and he refuses to let fatherhood be the one he fails at- especially when Vergil knows better than anyone the horrible fate that lies before a child with no one to protect him.

“I don’t have a girlfriend,” Vergil growled, his eyes dark.
“Well, maybe you should get one because you’re kind of a sour assho—”
“Dante! Language!” Eva admonished.
“He needs to lighten up!” Dante jerked a thumb at his brother.
Vergil rolled his eyes. “Arguing with you like this has no meaning.”
“Maybe but it’s too fun to stop.” Dante smacked his brother’s shoulder.
“This reminds me.” Sparda sliced into his steak with perfect etiquette. “You boys need the ‘Talk.’” He bounced his eyebrows impishly.
“Darling, not at the dinner table,” Eva objected, shocked.
Blush bloomed in Vergil’s face.
Dante cocked an eyebrow, eyes wide. “We know how it works, Dad.” He kept his head down, tapping his fork.
“I think Dante needs more than a ‘talk’ regarding that matter.” Vergil smirked vengefully. “Perhaps he should take an entire class.”Recommended for ages 18+ for occasional strong language and sexual content
