Summary
Damon, Stefan, Klaus, Kol, Rebekah, Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, Hayley, Tyler, and Enzo and eventually Kai. Twelve mismatched, screwed up people who are smashed together to create one of the most dysfunctional groups in the Augustine Center. They're all more fragile than they know.
Bad things happen. They always do. But when you're somewhere where you are meant to be healing, breaking is the exact opposite of what you expect, yet it happens. And it happens. Over and over. They're not safe.
The twelve of them, the brothers and sisters, friends and enemies, become entwined together and move closer and closer to one another than any of them even wanted. They don't have a choice, though, because while their world is absolutely crazy to those on the outside, the ones who can't and won't help, it's their reality. And they have to survive it.

*In the midst of a big edit and restructuring. Do not read this unless I've finished.*
After 700 years of being hunted, Persephone realized she couldn't do it anymore, run from them; she'd die, everyone would. She had no other choice; it was death, or the Mikaelson's. Kol. A phantom heart thudded in her chest and her mind cut back to him. His face. His smile. His words. The way he touched her. The way he looked at her. The way she loved him. It came crashing down on her all at once, once again; everything he did to her.
Persephone read this quote once long ago that went something like, 'I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity'. And in that instant, she knew, the long intervals were her life, and he was her insanity.

Summary
Pain exits to tell us that something is wrong.
It was awful, but it had to be. To Clarke, that was okay, the pain, because sometimes it's better to know when something isn't right than to be oblivious to what is happening around you. Life was to be lived not survived, and Clarke knew that to know what was good she had to know what was bad, no matter how much it had almost destroyed her, or seemed to; she recovered. And no matter how wrong everything was, no matter the pain that would take over her whole and tear her apart, what was wronged was always righted.
At least, that was what Clarke used to think.
And then a bloody Bellamy Blake was dragged through the gates of Arkadia and nothing made sense anymore.
