Shaking with anger, Ginny did the only other thing she could. Scream. “You abusive piece of shit! Let me go! You absolute bastard!” He squeezed her wrists, and Ginny yelped in pain. Instead of any type of apology though, he used the opportunity to start speaking.
“I don’t care if you think this is unfair or illegal. We are married. And if you think for one minute I plan to let you yell at me, attack me, or treat me with anything less than the respect due to a husband, you are going to see just how fucking abusive I can be.”
Finally, a true burst of fear cut through her anger. She did not know Malfoy. Did not know what kind of man he was; not really. She had never been good at de-escalation. Had never really tried to get out of a fight before. “Stop using that word! You are not my husband!” Alright. So she was really, really bad at trying to stop a fight.

Beside her, Harry chatted with Astoria. The two seemingly got along well, much to the chagrin of both Ginny and Malfoy.
“So,” Ginny said, taking a long drink from her wine. “I see you’re no longer in Azkaban.”
Malfoy’s eyes flashed with irritation. “I see you’re still chasing after the boy-who-didn’t-die.”
Ginny felt her face flush with color. “We’re dating.”
“Sure,” he said airily.
“And what did Astoria do wrong to end up with you?”
Malfoy’s cruel smile grew. “You can do better than that, weasel.”
Ginny desperately wanted to punch that look off his face, but instead she took a deep breath. “I’m not a child anymore, Malfoy. I’m above school-yard insults.”
“But you’re still not above the poverty line.”
Without a second thought Ginny tossed the remainder of her drink onto Malfoy.

Buying fresh flowers from a market in springtime. Wrapped in quilts, his body pressed against hers. Finally knowing what it felt like to be so intertwined with him that she forgot the beginning and end of herself. The deep inferno of blue, inky night with glittering stars. The lingering eternity in the constellations of love they weaved through space and time.
