Summary
Mulder and Scully are taken to the Pacific Northwest to investigate a legend from the old Oregon Trail along with a string of odd deaths. Mulder is keen to believe the legend about a spirit that could conjure a person's innermost desires and compel them to act. Scully wants to ground him in her scientific POV. Not to mention, Scully is mistakenly assigned a Honeymoon Suite which causes both of their wildest fantasies to unfold.

Summary
In the episode “En Ami" (S7 of the Original Series), CSM revealed that he was dying and that he may have access to medical cures. The central villain was expressing a need to atone for everything he had done before he died. It provided a complex layer of his character that I found fascinating. The other moving part of this episode was Mulder’s reaction when he discovered not only that Scully was missing but who she was missing with. During their journey, CSM questioned Scully about her life choices, almost in a father-like way, asking her why she wouldn’t give herself to Mulder fully. What was just as fascinating as the journey, were the unspoken words exhibited though facial expressions between Mulder and Scully. My mind lingered on the unspoken exchanges. I envisioned this “additional scene” between the apartment scene and the final scenes at CSM’s lake house and Mulder and Scully revisiting the empty building. The center of this story is Mulder and Scully’s relationship. Fear of losing the one you love is the driving emotion.
