Jotaro took him to the high cliffside near where he’d study his starfish.
Below them, grey boulders stained green stood up like monoliths, warding off anyone who dared to climb its peaks. Except, of course, the marine biologist who crawled in and out of the stone forest to get to the small beaches and tide pools within. From up on the cliff it looked deceptively far down, but in reality, it was only about a ten-minute walk. At least for the able-bodied, it was.

But they’d been together for six years, and survived not only a 50 day life or death trip around the world, but also college, a move to the United States, and Jotaro’s grad school applications, the last of which had somehow been the hardest of all. Noriaki could read him like a book now.

Jotaro has just started his PHD program and is stressed about attending his university's Graduate Student Mixer. Noriaki helps ease his nerves, in more ways than one.

In a period of 50 days, Jotaro struggles against himself, makes a new friend, and falls in love.
The new transfer student, Kakyoin, brought drama to a school starving for it. His arrival put new targets on his back and girls fawning over his red hair, but beyond all that he made Jotaro feel strange. After all, photographic memory and an overwhelming acuteness for precision weren't things that popped up naturally out of nowhere. Kakyoin's ghost probably had something to do with it and nothing to do with Jotaro understanding how the girls felt.
