Summary
The great Dr. Ratio doesn't do peer pressure, doesn't stay out late, and certainly doesn't stumble home drunk at 3 AM. Aventurine is delighted to discover all the other things Veritas apparently doesn't do.

Summary
"I think my slick is weird," Aventurine announced without warning, taking a glance at the empty beer bottles that somehow possessed him to confess such a hidden shame. The can in his hands was one that Ratio liked but never recommended: it was very bitter, especially when Aventurine attempted to drown out his words with that drink.
Or: Aventurine has been thinking of Ratio in a distinctly un-omega way.

Summary
“Don’t,” Ratio says, finally breaking the silence. Just a single word, uttered in a low voice. “You know nothing of what I want.”
“Oh, I think I do,” Feinman shoots back with a smirk. “I remembered just now that I heard an interesting rumor about you. Something about you and your obsession with a certain…IPC executive?”
Aventurine’s stomach flips, the words clattering around his skull like dice in a tin cup.
Or in which Aventurine goes undercover at a brothel and accidentally finds Ratio there.

Summary
“Kaveh?”
He blinks, looking up. Dehya is standing in his path, showing him a confused expression as she walks in the opposite direction. He smiles reflexively, which she mirrors, but he can see the question written on her face. He internally cringes before she even gets a chance to ask:
“What’re you doing heading back to the dorms? Don’t you have an art club to run?” she teases, having no idea how deeply the question cuts him.
Knowing Dehya, Kaveh’s not going to get away with some performative niceties, so he answers her bluntly: “There’s no art club today.”
There’s no art club anymore, period.

Summary
“I’m sorry,” he says, though he doesn’t feel very sorry. “I think we started this conversation poorly. I don’t get much free time, and I usually spend it under this tree.”
“I fail to see how this is my problem.”
Kaveh grits his teeth.
“I would really appreciate it if you would find a different tree to read under.”
The stranger looks up. There’s a sharpness in his gaze that almost makes Kaveh want to fidget. This man is clearly mortal. Kaveh can sense the soul in him, surprisingly soft when contrasted with the razor’s blade of his eyes.
“What’s your name?” the stranger asks. Kaveh, surprised by the question, responds without thinking.
“Kaveh.”
“Well, Kaveh,” he says, “I suggest you find a new tree.”
Kaveh, an immortal god, meets Alhaitham, a perfectly average scholar, and takes it personally.
