George always tried to be fair when it came to Bucky. He knew the boy got in more fights than was good for him, but he also knew his reasons why. His opinions of how Sarah dealt with her son were ones he kept to himself — he loved Steve like he was his own, but the boy could find trouble in an empty paper bag, and he’d drag Bucky right along with him.
“What happened?” he asked as he approached the men gathered around.
Now he was closer, he saw that as well as Bucky, twelve year old Eddie, and twin ten-year-olds, Nate and Tim, were also in their fathers’ grasps. John, one of Bucky’s uncles, released his hold on Bucky and gave him a nudge back over to George, who placed a calming hand on his shoulder. He could feel the tension under his palm, and gave a squeeze.

Summary

What starts as a few minutes of conversation turns into coffee between classes. Coffee becomes a quick glass of wine, then eventually dinner.
As their relationship shifts from stolen hours to something that might last, the kids notice. Matthew and Diana can handle grant deadlines, grading, therapy appointments, and the daily logistics of keeping their households steady, but building a life together asks a harder question: can you let someone in without making promises your children can’t afford for you to break?
A human AU slow burn about single parenthood and the brave, ordinary work of letting someone in when you have every reason to be careful.

“I’m not Morgan. Stop treating me like I’m four,” Peter spat back. Who in the hell said things like ‘listening ears’ to teenagers?
“Then stop acting like it! You got stabbed, fighting enhanced criminals with alien weapons, neither of which you are allowed to do, while you are still grounded and weren’t even supposed to be patrolling.”
Steve is displeased with Peter’s actions, to say the least.

His father must balance administering the proper discipline for the future Laird of the estate, with his son’s need for love and support through a very hard time for the entire Fraser family.

1758- The Frasers are a respected family in Edinburgh, where Jamie Fraser, his wife Claire, and their children, Brianna and William, divide their time between running a successful printshop, and maintaining Jamie’s Highland estate, Broch Tuarach. Materially successful and of strong moral character, he is the model of benevolent patriarchal authority.
But, looking deeper, one can see the weight of responsibility and provision inherent to such a role. To lead is to make decisions, and sometimes, to be the one dispensing justice. Living in a world of heirarchy and moral order, Jamie strives to balance his duties against his own human weaknesses, and keep the ties of kinship and family strong.
(I don’t usually do AU/Canon divergence, but keeping Jamie and Claire together and having them raise their children in a cute little family unit, while also setting up a framework for future dfic chapters featuring some of my favorite characters that could not happen within the parameters of canon was an idea that was probably bound to happen sooner or later!)
