Summary
Felix chose to let the opportunity pass by. His pride was too strong to stomach trading a whole trove of Miraculouses for a single one, no matter how precious. Now he must find a new way to achieve his ends, and Gabriel is already on alert. In addition, a chance encounter with Chloé Bourgeis on the streets of Paris goes awry, leaving the normally collected young man reeling from the unexpected and unimagined.
What follows is a tempestuous set of interactions. Emotions, discovery, confusion, success, and failure turn hand in hand. Felix learns his strict definitions fail before the complexity of life. Chloé finds that taking time to think may have merits after all. One helps the other. The second helps the first. Both help each other.
