Summary
Gi-hun's entire life has fallen apart, but he’s been managing to hold himself together, picking up the pieces of himself in the aftermath of a messy divorce. But one day, he arrives at work early to find something that sends his entire world crashing down around him for a second time.
A tasteless, disgusting prank – because that’s all it is, what else could it be?
“I think someone may even harbor some kind of disturbing fascination with you, Gi-hun. But you need to understand – the Board only sees that you're causing problems.” Il-nam pauses to break eye contact, expression grim. “I don’t mean to speak ill of your area colleagues, but they're not good enough to save your career from this. Any of them.”
Just as despair grips Gi-hun within its sharp talons, In-ho, who has been silently observing the entire exchange, finally speaks up – offering salvation that reverberates through the silent office like a crack of thunder.
“I’ll do it.”

In-ho didn’t let the sting show. He chuckled though, at how little his brother truly knew. “Your friend owes me a debt.”

In an attempt to salvage the coffee shop he, Jung-bae and Sang-woo opened two years ago, Gi-hun gets a loan from somewhere he knows he shouldn’t.
He’ll pay it off, anyways. He just doesn’t understand why the feared gang leader—The Frontman—has a soft spot for him. Gi-hun cares little for what’s under his hard mask and cold exterior. His eyes are on In-ho, his good friends older brother, even if Jun-ho tells him to forget about it.
