Summary
Canon compliant character studies, hurt/comfort, and future fics. They should stand alone, but also make up a bigger story. Gen + Stancy, Steve-centric. We're rescuing Nancy from the Herald while we're at it. Series name from Talking Heads' "This Must Be the Place."

Summary
When Nancy shoots the sphere (aka the exotic matter) in S5EP05, Steve is on the roof as well and gets sucked into the matter. He gets thrown out in the year 1978, nine years before S5, some floors below in the Hawkins Lab.
or: Steve accidentally time-travels into the past, to the time of the children-experiments and one year before the massacre. While he is held hostage in the Lab, he needs to protect baby Eleven and all the other kids (if they like it or not), try to not tell Brenner and his soldiers too much about the future and also work with the blooming obsession of noone else than Vecna/Henry Creel himself. Easy, right?

Summary
The Squawk had become their cover, their communication hub, their war room. Robin did the actual broadcasts mostly playing music and reading pre-written community updates approved by the military presence in town, but the real purpose was the coded messages. Steve had helped her set up the whole system, spending hours figuring out how to get all the sound effects she wanted, taping things to walls and attempting to MacGyver random things around the station.
That was just who Steve was, but looking around the room now, Robin wondered more and more if anyone else actually saw that.

“It’s just that—rabies are like my number one greatest fear, and I think we should probably get you to a doctor, like, really soon because once the symptoms set in, it’s too late, you’re already, like, dead.”
Robin soon learns this is true of other things besides rabies. Apparently, bat bites and lake water make for a very dangerous combination.
