The Minamotos are going to the local shrine. It's too early for hatsumode, but that's not the purpose of their journey. No, it's that an event is being held there this year. The Miura shrine is hosting a small selection of stalls for New Year's, followed by fireworks at midnight.
"More people are doing that these days, you know?" Teru had said, when asked why he'd suggested changing up their plans this year. "It's fun. An excuse to dress up and eat until we're stuffed without you having to cook. Don't you think that sounds fun, Kou?"
That was the closest Kou had gotten to a reason why Teru might have wanted to do this, although if he had to guess the real catalyst behind it all, he'd probably find it shaped exactly like their father.
