Summary
Yang has a bit of a reputation for sometimes pushing a little further than she probably should, and Weiss would be wincing if it didn’t seem as if Blake was enjoying this. There’s no real annoyance in her tone, gait light and clear as she argues back and forth, now going for a shove of her own. Actually, she looks—well. Happy to be arguing in the first place.
They’re partners—of course they’re bound to be close—but this suddenly seems different in some way. Weiss thinks, huh.
Yang dodges the counterattack and adds, “Plus, you’d miss me if I stopped.”
She might have won after all. Blake doesn’t seem to have a reply, and they continue on in silence. Weiss catches the barest glimpse of Yang’s smug smile as she turns her head, warm and far too pleased with herself to be healthy. Blake never denies it, and as they continue on, Yang’s smile only grows wider.
Huh, indeed.

“I’m not going to do anything stupid,” she says. “I’m not looking to meet anyone, and if I was, I wouldn’t go after wannabe reality TV stars. But they’re going to fly me all over the world, Weiss, and pay me more than I made in four years of royalties off my last book.”
“When you put it like that, it sounds almost reasonable.”
“That’s because it is,” Blake says. “Now help me pack or get out of my apartment.”
“Just promise me you won’t actually marry someone you meet on reality television."
(Blake agrees to become Remnant's next bachelorette for a lot of reasons, but getting married is absolutely nowhere on that list. Then, of course, she meets Yang.)

She stopped growing less than a year after they disappeared and Yang had a growth spurt two years later, but Weiss has been the same height the whole time, as if her body gave up on moving forward after they were gone, and it hurts sometimes to remember how caught in the past they both are sometimes, in their own ways. “I don’t know how many more ways to say it, Yang. You’re not the only one who lost them.”

Summary
Yang sighed, hugging her bag to her chest and resting her chin atop it as she tried her best not to touch the man next to her on the bus. He’d been inching closer and trying to start a conversation, still not taking the hint of “not interested,” even after the third round of being pointedly ignored.
Public transportation was the absolute worst. No matter the form it took it was always hot, crowded, and reeked of sweat in the worst of ways. Not to mention the people that seemed to not understand this was a means to an end, and not a nightclub where people were looking for a good time.
