Zayne shakes his head with a chuckle. “I can't help but resent the man who gets to spend so much time with you while I'm busy saving lives.”
You and Xavier were close friends and worked well together on missions. Zayne always seemed to hold something against Xavier, but never mentioned your other friend slash “employer” Rafayel. Perhaps it's because he knew that Rafeyel was more annoying than anything to you, and Zayne had witnessed how easily you ignored the artist's flirting.
“I know.” Zayne sighs, his thumb starting to stroke the skin of your hand. “I suppose I'm more jealous that he gets to see you in action so often.”
“In action?” You ask, your voice dropping to a lower note. “Jealous you don't get to see me all hot and sweaty, powerfully taking down my enemies, being in control in every situation?”
Zayne gives a small smirk, but the tips of his ears redden slightly. “Perhaps.”

“Excuse me, Doctor Zayne?” You say softly.
He looks up, eyes widening. He glances at his watch and then back at you. “What are you doing here? It’s so late..”
You bat your lashes and pout at him. “Well…I’m not feeling too hot, Doctor,” you say with a dramatic sigh.
Zayne cocks an eyebrow. “Oh?” He folds his arms across his chest and looks at you. “What seems to be the issue?” He asks, playing along.
“I’m not sure…I just feel…out of sorts…” you say, your voice trailing off.
Zayne chuckles softly and shakes his head. He glances at his laptop and then closes it with a soft thump. “I see. Well, you’ve come to the right place…let me take a look at you…” he says.
Or, the one where you show up at Zayne's office in the middle of the night and you...well...you know.
