"Hi Rozan... Ilya, It's Shane. But of course you know that. I... huh... I know you're busy and that things are probably... insane right now. I just wanted to check in, I guess. I know you won't listen to this, but I just... I keep thinking about you all the way there, alone. I wish... I wish I could be there with you. I... I miss you. (Shane exhales, then inhales deeply). Fuck. I do miss you. So much. I'll see you in two weeks, ok? Take care of yourself Ilya. Bye."

    Or,

Shane pours his heart out on his voicemails to Ilya.
It's too late when Ilya finally listens to them.

    Summary

Growing up, Ilya had learned that wanting things made him a burden. Shane had made it his personal mission to prove the exact opposite. So yes, technically Ilya could buy anything he wanted. But he rarely got the opportunity.
Because somehow, impossibly, Shane always got there first.

    Or

Ilya Rozanov is Spoiled and Pampered by his husband.

    Shane Hollander ✅ @shanehollanderofficial
I’ve seen many publications over the years speculating on my own, and my husband’s, hockey stats and accolades in relation to our romantic relationship and when the public assumes it started.

We don’t owe this to anyone. But we’ve also been playing professional hockey for seventeen years and we’ve both run out of ahem, cares to give.

On the right is a photograph from the behind the scenes of our joint CCM advertisement in July of 2010. This photo predates the hundreds of combined accomplishments listed on the left.

Oh, and it was also taken about six hours before our first kiss.

    -----

or; a year from retirement and out of fucks to give, shane reveals their timeline to twitter in response to the latest speculatory article on their relationship. hollanovs across the world rejoice, centaurs celebrate their beloved dads, and former teammates share the not-so-subtle clues they missed the first time.

    Summary

Every single example online of the love languages could fit Ilya to some degree – Shane had never thought about it before, but now that he knew, it was a problem that he didn’t know Ilya’s. He already wasn’t fluent in Russian, despite his attempt at learning, and he refused to be behind on another of Ilya’s languages.

Shane looked down at Ilya, still passed out asleep in his arms, and nodded to himself, ready to run a series of experiments until he found what worked for Ilya.
