Summary
Vegetta had always held the false hope that he might have a choice in who he married. It was a hope of romance, but it was one he never should have entertained. Now, faced with the imminent death of his father and the responsibility of carrying on that legacy, the choice of a lifelong companion had to be rushed, and it had to be correct. No pressure, as long as he could keep the marriage amiable at the very least.
Foolish had never held much hope for anything, fifth in line for his own land’s leadership and a cast out of society at that; His existence, for most of his life, had been a mere footnote. Being sent away to marry into the crown family on the mainland had never been a thought in his mind until it happened. Told to keep their lands peaceful to each other, while hiding a shameful secret of his own, the risk of shaming his family and people even more than he already had is a looming thought.
Both, with no other choice, decided to do the best they could given the circumstances.
Circumstances are inclined to change, however, and secrets between lovers can never stay secrets for long.
