It was becoming a rather difficult chore to hide the apprehension he felt nowadays. And he so very much hated the thought of his unbothered façade crumbling before him for everyone around to see what lied beneath.
He still did his best, of course, to put on that carefree smile. To remain cheerfully stoic. To focus on teasing his classmates rather than his own issues.

The public and press were buzzing with excitement and curiosity at the news that Todoroki Shouto, the son of the #2 Hero Endeavor, would be joining the incoming freshman class at U.A. that year.
His homeroom teacher, Aizawa Shouta, however, had seen far too many like him - the privileged kids of famous heroes - egos monumental and undeserved. And Endeavor being boastful, ill-tempered and ruthless at best, made him almost sure that his kid would be most problematic of problem children.
His classmates, while mostly concerned with the start of their own Hero journey, had heard the news. Endeavor was a household name, so of course they’re eager to meet his son.
But once they did meet Todoroki Shouto, he didn't exactly fit into the shape any of them anticipated. In some ways he did - he’s cold and distant, perfect and untouchable. But in others he completely defies any and all expectations.

This Shouto fic will follow the teachers and students of class 1-A as they get to know him, and he them. As a clearer picture of his past and current home life begins to form, every one of them grows increasingly concerned for the Shouto that they’ve come to know and love.

Shouto would normally keep what he’s about to say to himself, but something compels him to voice the dark humor that immediately flashes in his mind.
“Thank you. We’re designer.”
From the kitchen table, Izuku and Katsuki choke on their respective drinks, hacking and coughing as they desperately try not to suffocate at the sudden remark.
(OR, Shouto discovers dark humor is a helpful way to cope with his trauma)
