Summary
Directing his attention back from the room to the chessboard before him, Adler now raised a hand to make his move. On the opposite side of the stage from where the pair were seated one of the staff members near the giant board, upon placing down a pair of binoculars, reached for the cutout of a white bishop and moved it diagonally upwards - replacing the position of the black rook before it.
The audience visibly stirred.
“Bishop takes Rook.” he heard the younger woman murmur under her breath, her mouth set in a firm line as Adler moved a finger to press down on his side of the Fischer clock. Chewing her bottom lip, Bell now turned her attention towards her one remaining rook and king.
“I should tell you Adler, survival is now the main priority of ours now. Her eyes now flicked upwards, gaze directed at Adler as she switched the positions of the aforementioned two pieces with ease. “My job is to do anything to make sure it stays that way.”

During your time in the military so far, you have bore witnessed to many horrific things - interrogation, torture, dead bodies…all of which you viewed without batting an eyelid. But for some reason, the sight of the dusty grand piano on the dilapidated wooden stage of the recital hall made your insides turn uncomfortably. As did every crunch of shrapnel and broken glass that was crushed below your feet as you made your way towards the thing of beauty.
During a mission with Task Force 141, a shootout ends up with you being separated from the boys and seeking refuge in what seems to be a former music conservatorium.
“You did the impossible, Lass. You made a bunch of battle hardened men forget about allegiances and violence temporarily in favour of being united by music.”

“Why?”
Against the backdrop of heavy rainfall and more distant thunder, the sound of Hemlock’s voice could not have been softer. A huge contrast to the intimidating, looming authority figure that she had associated the man with for most of her adolescence.
“Really?” She stabbed him once more, this time twisting the blade deeper. This caused the man to hiss, and his grip against her wrist to tighten. “After all these years, you still have the audacity to ask? From your career in the Republic until now…has your 50 years in this galaxy taught you nothing?”
She now stares into Hemlock’s eyes, the fires of her hatred burning bright for this monster before her - no amount of rain would have been able to diminish them. Anger bubbled to the surface as flashes of the faces of Hemlock’s various experiments - both past and present - could now be seen in her mind's eye.
“What goes around always comes around.”
