Kyle can’t sleep in the same bed as Stan during sleepovers. Sometimes he does, when Stan is too drunk to be by himself, but it isn’t the same as staying up all night with him - only falling asleep when it takes over. That’s when Kyle gets to trace Stan’s collarbones and stare at the back of his neck. He gets to watch his newly bleached hair curl at the nape, missing when it wasn’t as tough as straw.
Stan isn’t sure why he’s still dating Wendy. He loves her, obviously. He’s loved her since he was a snot nose kid who puked out of nerves every time she kissed him on the cheek. But there’s something different about holding her hand down cinder block hallways, looking like the Ken to her Barbie. Just standing there.
