Summary
There was a strange finality in the air, the feeling weighing Chris down and pressing against his chest in a way that was making it hard to breathe. The BOW seemed to be able to sense it too as it arose from within the tank, water streaming off its scales and dripping to the floor - roaring at them as if it was throwing the gauntlet down for a fight. While the BOW screeched at them, the sound ear piercing and painful, Chris took the opportunity to see what the monster looked like.
And then immediately wished he hadn’t.

They might’ve forced him to sign over his freedom. Might’ve forced him to twist and contort until he could no longer stand who he was. But they never prepared him for the agonizing pain that came with fixing the shattered pieces of who he once was. For the pain that came with being loved.

Summary
There, hanging in a cheap looking frame that was chipped along the edges, was a picture of what appeared to be a forest of aspen trees in the fall. Leaves tinged a vibrant orange and sky a bright blue. Trunks arching proudly as they reached towards the sky.
Chris couldn't place where the picture had been taken, not when there was barely any information to go off, but it was undeniable that the picture was stunning. A perfectly serene image showcasing just how beautiful the world could be.
But it was also completely out of place, especially in the dim light of the decaying warehouse. And something about it made Chris absolutely ache.
