Summary
Luz Marilyn Noceda knew many things. They knew five different languages, how to interpret secrets stashed between the lines in books, everything about the ocean and its creatures, and that their brain doesn’t work the same way as those around her.
Most importantly, they knew their Mami kept secrets. They never pried because they kept secrets from her too. Their dislike for the “playdates” with other gifted kids, teased and mocked for their lack of goals. Their hatred for school, how the teachers single them out and the students bully them black and blue. How that, no matter how hard they try not to think about it, they desperately wish to reunite with their Papa...
It all boils over one day. A test that seals their doom. A teenager that hates them for things beyond their control. A fall, a slip, a change. The night before they’re made to leave, they run away. A strange owl leads them deep into the forest, and an old decrepit cabin changes their fate forever.
