Aziraphale is a young man with a life-threatening secret, a tragic past full of abandonment, and drawn towards toxic relationships. Crowley is a young man who does not know how to cope with niceness. He's a gruff and sarcastic man who drowns his sorrows in alcohol and/or the arms of a one-night-stand.
